Regular Meeting
Mayer Schwarzbach called the meeting to order. The Pledge was recited.
Council members present: Krystyl Kulbeck, Blaine Ophus, Jon Sheehy

Approval of Meeting Minutes: Blaine Ophus moved to approve the minutes from the April meeting. Krystyl Kulbeck seconded; motion passed.
Sheriff’s Report: Sheriff Smith gave the Council a report on law enforcement activity in and around Big Sandy. Deputy Clark has completed his training at the academy and will be working in this part of the county. After the Sheriff’s report there was discussion with both Sheriff Smith and Judge Broesder regarding when and how court hearings could be held. As the acting city judge, Judge Broesder’s holds those hearings the third Wednesday of each month. That could be changed to weekly hearings held on Zoom. There was also discussion about rolling both positions, city judge and justice of the peace into one position, which would have to have the consent of the county commissioners and a MOU with the county and the town. There was more discussion about the community decay problems and how to proceed with the issue.
Public Comment: None
Pivot: The salinity numbers are very good. Irrigation is in progress.
New Pool report: The Mayor reported that there are plans in place for fundraising.
KLJ: No updates. The Clerk has been trying to contact someone at Hawkins.
Bear Paw Development: Nothing new.
New Business:
Resolution 2026-16 -alley closure: No action was taken as the town was not in possession of the signed petition. The will be carried over to the June meeting.
Resolution 2026-47 – Budget Amendment increasing the expenditure budget for Fund 4002-new pool fund. Krystyl Kulbeck moved to approve the resolution; Jon Sheehy seconded and the motion passed on a roll call vote.
MDT wish list: The Clerk will prepare a budget for the rest area for FY 27 and submit it to the Department of Transportation. The budget will include janitorial services, repairs and maintenance, utilities and cleaning supllies.

Clerk: The shut off was sent out electronically
The correspondence was distributed. The Mayor signed the FFA paperwork transferring funding to the Geraldine airport
Claims: Blaine Ophus moved to accept the claims to date; Krystyl Kulbeck seconded. Motion passed.
General Journal Voucher: Krystyl Kulbeck moved to accept JV 2026-10. Blaine Ophus seconded; motion passed.
