CBDG Grant Public Hearing
Council members present: Mayor Shaud Schwarzbach, Colby Baumgarn, Rich Jespersen and Krystyl Kulbeck
Public present: Luke La Liberty
Staff present: Wendy Kleinsasser
Luke La Liberty, KLJ, presented the council with information about the possibility of applying for a CDBG grant to be used for improvements on city hall. He met with Martin Byrnes, an architect with CTA, at city hall. The purpose of these improvements would be to be able to accommodate large groups of people while maintaining social distancing as well as technical upgrades, installing ADA accessible rest rooms, upgrading the HVAC system in the back room and installing new windows and doors in the back.
The building has many issues that need to be addressed if these improvements are to be made. The architect suggested the town consider just replacing the building.
The timeline is:
Grant due: October 7th
Fall of 2021: grants awarded
Spring 2022: funds available
Summer 2022: construction
Fall/winter: project completion
The mayor and council decided to hear what the cost estimates.
